5th & Taylor

I have heard so much buzz about local restaurant, 5th & Taylor, that I decided I just HAD to try it. :) The American restaurant is located in Nashville's Germantown neighborhood and I can now say that it is easily one of my new favorite spots for dinner and drinks.  Last month, I stopped in for dinner with my good friend Marisa to try out the spot that so many friends have raved about.

For me, one of the most challenging things about trying a new restaurant is its offerings for vegetarians. Often times, restaurants have minimal options (if any at all) for those of us that never or rarely consume meat. As I looked through the menu at 5th & Taylor, I was SO happy to find options that suit my tastes. While Marisa and I looked through the menu, we ordered cocktails and chips & dip.

The cocktails were thoughtfully crafted and remind me of the types of drinks that are served in my hometown, Las Vegas. They were delicious, the best quality, and of course--beautiful.

The chips & dip that we ordered came with chive & caramelized onion dip, pickles, and cucumbers.

Marisa ordered Beer Can Chicken and I ordered Roasted Cauliflower with capers, poblano quinoa, and lemon. The Roasted Cauliflower was DELICIOUS and perfect for vegetarians. The capers and lemon added the perfect flavor to the cauliflower and quinoa. Marisa said her chicken was some of the best that she has had.

We savored our meals while enjoying the memorable ambiance of the restaurant. In the middle of the restaurant, there is a statue that is surrounded by TONS of candles with tables on both sides.

The Angel Food Cake with berries, lemon, and sweet cream stood out to us on the dessert menu. I'm a sucker for fruity desserts and this angel food cake was heavenly (get it? ;) ). It was the perfectly decadent end to our dinner.

As the night concluded, we stopped in the restroom to freshen up. The all-black tiling on the walls with the pink floral wallpaper was my FAVORITE. I loved the atmosphere and think this is the best bathroom in Nashville, hands down.

Overall, I highly recommend 5th & Taylor to tourists and locals alike. I am such a fan of places that foster a sense of community and offer memorable experiences. This restaurant had the most kind staff, amazing food, and a great environment.

What I love most about 5th & Taylor is what they stand for:

"At 5th & Taylor, we believe the simple act of sharing a meal returns us to the days when what we have in common is more important than what separates us. Though we may come to the table with a variety of hopes and needs, we can relate through the universal necessity to nourish our bodies and connect with others."

Crosley

Obviously, I am a music fanatic. It is my safe space, my creative outlet, and the fuel to my daily activities. I have had my eyes on getting a turntable for the longest time after seeing them at Urban Outfitters last year. Vinyl has definitely had a revival and I love the thought of being able to go to a record store to buy vintage records and actually having a way to play them. Tons of new releases are also available on vinyl in limited quantities. Vinyl collecting is a new hobby that I'm beyond excited to engage in!

The amazing people at Crosley sent over this peach 'Cruiser' turntable and I am loving it! This is a three-speed turntable that is portable and has built in speakers. I've been playing the few records that I have and can't wait to expand my collection. I have my eyes on a whole variety of new records and I am so excited to have a new way to enjoy music in all of its splendor!

Crosley has lots of great options for turntables available on their website.  Be sure to check them out! Also let me know what records I should buy! ;)

New York Fashion Week Recap: INC 30th Anniversary Party

Last week, one of my lifelong dreams of attending New York Fashion Week came true! Thanks to the amazing team of people at INC International Concepts, I was able to travel to New York City with my photographer, Marisa. Soon after arriving in the city, we went shopping for the majority of the afternoon to check out INC's 30th Anniversary Collection. I am really impressed with the way that INC has been able to adapt the season's must-have trends into great everyday pieces. I ended up purchasing several classic pieces that I'll be wearing all season! Some of my favorite purchases are below:

On Thursday, INC and Glamour Magazine hooked us up with our very own Glam Squad--it was amazing! The beauty team was a group of fierce and fun women who did our nails, hair, and makeup in preparation for INC's launch party for the 30th Anniversary Collection that evening. We also had champagne to help kick off the celebration.

Once we were all glammed up and ready to go, a car picked us up from our hotel and drove us to the IAC Building, which is where the event took place. We checked in, met with the INC team, and mingled through the crowd. This event was a special experience for me because it was my first major event during New York Fashion Week. There were tons of models, actors, musicians, and fashion industry elite in the crowd, including INC spokesmodels Heidi Klum and Gabriel Aubry.

After some time spent mingling, the crowd gathered around the runway for the presentation of the new collection. Once the models had all walked, Heidi and Gabriel took the stage to briefly address the crowd and wish INC a happy 30th birthday.

As the evening drew to a close, we were asked to pose on the red carpet for a photo that will be used in Glamour magazine! I'll be sure to post about it once it is published.  :)

All in all, my trip to New York and my experience at the INC 30th Anniversary party will forever be some of my favorite memories. The INC, Macy's, and Glamour Magazine teams were kind, welcoming, and encouraging. I can't thank them enough for their hospitality!

Kitchen Notes

I had breakfast this week at the cutest little spot at the Omni Nashville. I went to Kitchen Notes with my friend Abbie and fell in love with the ambience of this restaurant. We both ordered the Garden Egg White Frittata which had vegetables, spinach, goat cheese, and tomatoes. My favorite breakfasts consist of eggs with vegetables--and Kitchen Notes nailed it!

This was my first time at Kitchen Notes, but I can't wait to go back during lunch or dinner to experience more of this cute, southern, yet modern restaurant. Thank you, Omni!

1808 Grille at The Hutton

I just experienced 1808 Grille at The Hutton in Nashville for the first time and I was really impressed! This 4-star restaurant offers seasonal menus created by executive chef Jake Strang. Each meal consists of fresh and local ingredients--which makes all the difference in the world! I love restaurants that provide the freshest ingredients possible from local sources.

As someone who does not eat a lot of meat (occasionally I'll eat chicken), I did not have any problems finding delicious options on the 1808 Grille menu. I decided to order a summer vegetable sauté and paired it with a glass of rosé wine.

The meal consisted of "patty pan squash, swiss chard, carolina gold rice, and lentils." The entire meal was vegan friendly and also gluten free. I loved the unique flavor of this dish and the fact that it was perfectly fitting for a whimsical and lighthearted summer night.

I dined with my friend who ordered a 10 oz. NY Strip--which she raved about! We then tried their dessert options and I fell in love with their creme brulee.

1808 Grille has incredible ambiance and is a distinctly unique option for fine dining in Nashville. Thank you to the kind people at The Hutton for inviting me to experience 1808 Grille.
