Kelsey Kinsel is a 23-year-old entrepreneur, blogger, songwriter, and mental health advocate based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kelsey was born and raised in Las Vegas and was exposed to entrepreneurship at a young age. In 1st grade, she launched her first small business with her sister and close friends. The company sold handmade tie-dyed bookbags and later added a social component that raised awareness for manatees, which were an endangered species at the time.
After losing two friends to suicide in high school, she devoted herself to learning about mental health and created a suicide prevention organization called Salvation City. She launched an awareness campaign that garnered celebrity support from dozens of high profile individuals including Kim & Khloe Kardashian, Marcia Cross, Colbie Caillat, Eli Young Band, and Mat Hoffman—among many others. This was right around this time that Kelsey began writing songs and channeling her emotions into music.
In 2010, Kelsey served as the executive producer of a compilation CD for Salvation City. She scouted and signed 10 artists including Green River Ordinance, Chase Rice, Tim Halperin, and other emerging acts. The album consisted of uplifting songs that were handpicked for the project.
During a 2010 trip to Texas, Kinsel met with Salvation City artist Tim Halperin. It was during this meeting that Kelsey learned about Belmont University in Nashville. Upon further research and a trip to Nashville with her parents, she decided to make the leap across the country to attend Belmont.
While in school, Kelsey studied Social Entrepreneurship and Music Business. Her education covered diverse topics, but consisted mostly of entertainment industry studies, music, religion, philanthropy, and business.
Kelsey emerged herself into the flourishing music scene in Nashville and attended red carpets, industry parties, and awards shows that furthered her understanding of the inner workings of the entertainment industry. Throughout her experiences, she has continued to believe in the power of music and has continued to write songs.
In the two years since the blog was created, Kelsey has partnered with notable brands including Daniel Wellington, Forever 21, Aveda, 5th & Taylor, Omni Hotels, The Hutton Hotel, Sprinkles Cupcakes, The Dry House salon, and others. In 2015, Kelsey attended New York Fashion Week and secured invitations to exclusive fashion shows including the Givenchy runway show.
As Kelsey continues to explore all that the world has to offer, she is committed to embracing the gift of life and encouraging others to realize the power of their thoughts. She is fiercely passionate about the creative arts, body diversity in the media, and mental health.
